Clean Water, Healthy Families, Good Jobs Campaign Statement on Successful Removal of Lead Service Lines in Newark

The Clean Water, Healthy Families, Good Jobs Campaign released the following statement on the successful removal of lead service lines in Newark.

“We commend Mayor Baraka, Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo and Governor Murphy for taking swift action to replace Newark’s lead service lines and protect the health of residents.  We also applaud the Biden Administration for making water infrastructure a priority.

We still have much to work to do both statewide and in Newark on water infrastructure.  This year, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to close the clean water funding gap with an additional $1.2 billion from the American Rescue Plan that would boost the $1 billion committed from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.  We urge Governor Murphy to continue the progress on clean water, healthy families and good jobs by committing to additional investment in clean water infrastructure.  Together, we can make New Jersey a national model for investment in clean water.”
